Biography
The Belgian soprano Martine Reyners studied at the “Lemmens institute” (Academy of music) in Leuven and at the Royal Conservatory of Ghent where she graduated as a master in vocal training and opera. She performed the roles of Mimi (La Bohème), Micaëla (Carmen), Susanna (Il segreto di Susanna), Contesse (Wiener Blut) and by doing so awakened her real passion for the opera.
From that moment on, she started training singers and vocalists with unfailing enthusiasm in Belgium and abroad, founding eventually her own singing school.
In 2007 she returned to the stage and her performance of Rosalinde ("Die Fledermaus" – the bat) immediately was a huge success during the summer festival of Alden Biesen (Belgium). As a result she was asked to play the leading role in “Emilia di Liverpool” of Donizetti, a dramatic opera staged for the official inauguration of Liverpool as European Cultural Capital of 2008. This production was repeated in Bremen and in Gdansk.
The two following seasons, the Summer festival of Alden Biesen (B) invited her again to perform the parts of Tosca (Puccini) and of ‘Konstanze’ (Die Entführung aus dem Serail/Mozart). She also sang those two roles at the famous “Concertgebouw” in Amsterdam.
Then came the leading role of Aida (Verdi) in Liège, Namur, Brussels, Gent and Bruges and Martine presented several recitals in China for the Universal Exposition in Shangai and in Yanghzhou. Concerts with pianists David Miller, Daniel Blumenthal and Hein Boterberg led her to Germany, France and China and even to the Royal Palace in Brussels.
She lends her support to productions such as 'Maria Pascallas', and 'La voix, miroir de l’âme dans l’opéra' and also to gala concerts in tribute to ‘La Malibran’ and many Viennese concerts. She works with conductors Dirk Brossé, Giuliano Betta, Giovanni Pacor, Koen Kessels… Led by Sebastiaan van Steenberghe she sings the soprano role in the Requiem of A.L.Webber in Antwerp.
This season she performed Manon Lescaut (Puccini) at the summer festival in Alden Biesen conducted by Federico Santi. The german press praised her interpretation of Leonore (Fidelio/Beethoven) as a part of the ‘Opernfestspiele' of Heidenheim in Germany under the baton of conductor Marcus Bosch.
